A decorated baseball player and coach, Calvin Schiraldi came on board as the varsity baseball assistant coach for the 2024 season. 

Schiraldi has been a staple of the Austin-area baseball scene since the 1970s. He attended Westlake High School and the University of Texas at Austin, aiding the Longhorns in their 1983 College World Series victory. Schiraldi was named Most Outstanding Player of the series and a college baseball All-American that same year. 

He was then selected in the first round of that year’s draft by the New York Mets and played for five franchises across eight years in Major League Baseball, including the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers.

Schiraldi and his wife, Debbie, have two children, one of whom, Lukas, who he coached while the head man on the diamond at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy.
