Rick Owens

Rick Owens is in his first year at Brentwood Christian, serving as middle school athletic coordinator, defensive coordinator for the high school football team and head boys and girls golf coach. 


Owens came to the Bears from Yoakum High School, where he was an assistant coach for the Bulldogs’ football team. In 2018, Owens’ boys track and field team captured the UIL Class 3A state championship. Additionally, Owens had been the head boys and girls golf coach since 2021 at Yoakum. 


His 34-year coaching career includes every major coaching position on a football staff; Owens was the head coach at Cuero High School and has also held titles of offensive, defensive and special teams coordinator at various stops which include Sinton, Aransas Pass, Rockport-Fulton and Taft. His football teams have 9 total UIL state semifinal appearances. 


He and his wife, Rachael, have two children, both of whom are married and live in Austin. Rachael also joined the BCS family in the summer of 2024 and teaches middle school English. 


Owens received his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State) and went on to earn a Master’s of Education Administration from the University of Houston at Victoria. He is originally from Ingleside, Texas.
