The Lady Bellas had another record breaking year at Brentwood Christian where they won first in “Crowd Pleasers,” a dance competition in Dallas, had four dancers earn all-state awards and won the TAPPS state championship for the second year running, this time in the 5A classification.
The Lady Bellas performed two award-winning dances at state, including “Hot wings,” a bold kick routine that they performed for the school prior to showcasing it in Waco. Additionally, “I am Lost” was the Bellas’ lyrical piece, a beautiful and longing dance that the judges described as, “breathtaking.”
Throughout their season as a whole, the team has managed to grow closer together relationally, and as a team. The success from those connections has been clearly evident.
“Growing the relationships on the team has really helped us do better because now we're close like family,” said sophomore Ava Cavada.
The addition of Taylor Warner, a BCS alumna and now assistant director and choreographer of the Lady Bellas’ state dances, has encouraged everyone to greater heights while also furthering relationships with the dancers.
“The team has thrived this year by working extra hard and improving our skills in class and at home,” said junior Abby Lee, the team’s Social Officer. “Ms. Tay really helped us to step our game up this year by focusing on technique and performance.”
Along with competitive choreography, the dance team put in continual hours of practice, spending their summer at camps working through tougher dances, and practicing every day during the school year.
“We all just come together and work through tough challenges and obstacles,” Cavada said.
“I said at the beginning of the year that this is my best overall team, and they really are,” said Lisa Warner, director of the Bellas. “They just keep going to the next level. I’m also not losing any seniors, so that’s exciting.”
Although the Lady Bellas placed themselves at the top of the 5A leaderboard, there are still many things to look forward to regarding the remainder of their season. The team's Spring Showcase is coming up in April, and tryouts for the 2025-26 season recently wrapped with a strong crop of
incoming freshmen in the mix.
Brentwood Christian is extremely proud of the Lady Bellas and their hard fought wins at competition and remain excited to see what next year will bring.
