The Brentwood Christian School boys and girls golf teams took on the District 2-5A tournament on Tuesday, April 15 at Falcon Head Golf Course in Austin.

The top story from the event came on the girls side, where senior Karlee Lawrence, a qualifier to the TAPPS 4A golf tournament last season, moved on to regionals as an individual after finishing 10th with a 116.

Teammate and sophomore Peyton Tucker narrowly missed joining Lawrence at regionals, shooting a 117 and finishing 11th. Sophomore Renee Groomes, a first-year golfer, finished tied for 17th with a 141.

On the boys side, Brentwood was unable to push any individuals through to the regional round. Senior Jack Fluitt, who was 11th at the 4A regional meet last year, finished 36th on the day with a round of 95 to turn in the low score for BCS.

Elsewhere, junior Liam McGaughy was 39th, junior Luke Sheth was 41st, senior Ralph Castillo was 43rd, and sophomore Joshua Howe was 44th to round out the top five players for the Bears.

Lawrence will look to return to state once more at the regional golf tournament, set for April 28 at ShadowGlen Golf Course in Manor. It is a familiar course for Lawrence, as the program has played there twice already this season.
