Petty Commits to A&M San Antonio

Brentwood Christian School senior Blake Petty recently committed to compete at the college level after graduation.

Petty, who started attending BCS his sophomore year, will pursue a post-high school career in basketball at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, a program which will begin competing for the first time in the fall of 2025.

While competing for the Bears, Petty was part of over 70 program victories in his three seasons, really coming into his own the past two for the program and head coach Dustin Karrer. A two-time first-team all district and first-team all-state performer, Petty averaged a near double-double this season and has attracted interest for his blend of size, athleticism, scoring and rebounding ability.

Petty aided the Bears to back-to-back appearances at the TAPPS state tournament, the first time the program had been to that level in over two decades. He leaves an indelible mark at BCS, including becoming a 1,000-point scorer in his final season.

A&M-San Antonio is coached by Chris Dial, a long-time Alamo City stalwart, and its mascot is the Jaguars. The campus is located on the south side of Loop 410 in San Antonio, and also currently competes in men’s and women’s soccer, golf and softball at the NAIA level.
