The Brentwood Christian School boys and girls soccer teams powered through a challenging district season this year, narrowly missing the postseason on both sides. Despite that setback, both teams were honored with players on the TAPPS 2-5A all-district team.
The girls had three selections on the honorable mention team: Senior Charis McGaughy and sophomores Ava Cavada and Henley Magee.
McGaughy was a stalwart in the middle of the field for the Lady Bears, often controlling the pace and the attack. Her leadership on and off the field will be missed for a team that also loses seniors Eden Peterson, Mia Robertson and Maeryn McCormick.
Cavada and Magee both stepped into expanded roles this season. Cavada's speed on the outside made her a dangerous threat in the final third, while Magee, a first-time soccer player, manned the net for the team in her first-ever experience as a goalkeeper.
On the boys side, the team had narrow losses to Hyde Park and Bishop Dunne that pushed them out of contention, but senior Jack Weston was recognized as an honorable mention all-district selection.
A four-year athlete for coach Cash Miller and the Bears, Weston's speed and IQ helped the program create scoring chances in the final third for the duration of his time at BCS.
