Brentwood Christian School alumnus Renne Cooper has had a standout season for the MIT men's cross country program, a continuation of his high school success that doesn't appear to be slowing down.
Cooper and his MIT teammates finished first at Saturday's NCAA Division III East Regional Men's Cross Country Championships, held in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, finishing 18 points ahead of second place and easily qualifying for next Saturday's NCAA DIII Championships.
A time of 25:13.23 was good for 12th place in a crowded field for Cooper, who finished fourth among his teammates. MIT crossed the line in fourth, fifth, eighth, 12th and 14th for a team score of 43, outpacing Tufts University, who finished with 61.
The finish was good enough for all-region status for Cooper, the former standout in cross country and track and field at BCS. The top 35 runners were awarded all-region status.
Next up for MIT and Cooper will be he DIII Championships, scheduled for next Saturday, Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Indiana. For more information on race times, live streams and more, check out the link below.
