Brentwood Christian School's swim team entered the Thanksgiving holiday on a high note, competing well at the 4A TISCA meet in San Antonio on Nov. 22-23.
With 25 schools in attendance, mostly public schools, and over 350 swimmers competing, the meet offered the Bears a major litmus test to see where they stack up headed into continued pre-TAPPS meets and in preparation for TAPPS regional and state competition.
The results were encouraging, with numerous school records being set and both individual and relay swimmers leaving the event with a positive vibe.
Senior Jennifer Montier (100 butterfly and 100 backstroke) set school records on the girls side, while junior Gavin Edmondson (100 butterfly) set a school record on the boys side. Montier would go on to finish third in both of her races.
The boys' relay team of Edmondson, seniors Reid Alexander and Gus Ebner and freshman Chayce Lee set a school record in the 400 freestyle relay.
Elsewhere, swimmers Lee, freshman Bee Briseno, sophomore Zoe Ruiz and freshman Ali Nelson-Cook all set personal best times. Montier, Ruiz, Nelson-Cook and sophomore Natalie McGee combined to set a school record in the 400 freestyle relay.
Next up, the team will head to Texas School for the Deaf on Saturday, Dec. 7.
