Brentwood Christian School's boys basketball team is on the road just before Christmas this year, headed East to Marble Falls for the Faith Academy Classic on Dec. 20 and 21.

The tournament promises to be a litmus test for the program as the last major tournament of the season and games against some of the better boys basketball teams in TAPPS just shy of district play beginning Jan. 3.

The Bears will take on the host school, ranked No. 1 in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll for TAPPS 3A, as well as Geneva School of Boerne (No. 6 in TAPPS 4A) and Texas Lions.

The Lions, a homeschool program, are 21-2 on the season with victories over notable public schools such as Harker Heights.

BCS is familiar with both Faith and Geneva, having been in a district with the latter the past two seasons, and looks forward to the level of competition the tournament will provide.

On the season, junior and returning first-team all state point guard Marcus Zelee leads the team with 16.7 points per game, adding 6.6 rebounds, four assists and over two steals per contest .

Elsewhere, the balanced scoring effort for the Bears is bolstered by newcomer and junior Bryant Herring (12.7 points per game), senior Blake Petty (10), senior Coleston Allen (7.1) and junior Zach Czerlinsky (7.1).
