BASEBALL'S COPELAND, HUNKA ON WATCHLIST IN ADVANCE OF SEASON

Baseball's Copeland, Hunka on Watchlist in Advance of Season

STAFF REPORT

| 1/17/2025

Brentwood Christian School's baseball team was one win away from the state tournament in 2024, and the group will look to ride a senior and junior-heavy team to success again this season.

Two of those players, senior Jack Copeland and junior Tanner Hunka, were identified as TAPPS Division II players to watch headed into the 2025 campaign. Both were listed by TxHighSchoolBaseball.com as players to watch in the alignment.

Copeland will take the mound and man an outfield spot for BCS when he is not pitching. The senior will be relied on to eat up innings and play a pivotal role in the middle of the batting order.

Hunka will be taking on an expanded role on the mound as well and expects to see time at multiple infield spots when not pitching. Both players were all-district selections for the Bears last season and will look to make up for the loss of a decorated Class of 2024 lineup, which included alums Gio Perez, Braden Darling and Jamie Naumann.

The Bears, coached by Charles Bollinger and former Major League Baseball standout Calvin Schiraldi, will open the season with a scrimmage on Jan. 29 and have their first game at home on Feb. 4 at home versus Hill Country Christian School of Austin.
