The Brentwood Christian girls basketball team is back in the postseason after Tuesday night's 43-16 win over Brighter Horizons Academy.
The victory, which came in the first round of the TAPPS 2-5A tournament, cemented a playoff spot in the top four for the Lady Bears, who are returning to the playoffs for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
Brentwood is guaranteed no worse than the No. 4 seed, and will play again Friday at noon against No. 1 seed Brook Hill in the second round of the district tournament. The game will take place at Waco Live Oak Classical School. Saturday, the team will play either Hyde Park or Grace Community School at 10 a.m.
Sophomores Anu Oguntade (9 points, 18 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Ella Kennedy (12 points) led Brentwood to Tuesday's victory. Oguntade has been a defensive menace for the Lady Bears, averaging five points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks per game in district play.
